Our Dog Training Services
Private Dog Training Lessons
For dog owners who want focused, personalized attention, private lessons are the best option. Each session is tailored to your dog's unique temperament, history, learning style, and your goals as an owner. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you need help with basic obedience, leash manners, or more complex behavior issues, Matt designs every lesson just for you and your dog. Private lessons are also a great way to prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) evaluation. Dogs of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
Group Dog Training Classes
Group classes provide an experience that private lessons can't match: the energy, distractions, and social dynamics of the real world. At Central New England K9 Academy, our group dog training classes are structured, fun, and effective. Your dog learns to follow commands consistently even when other dogs, people, and distractions are around, which reflects good training in everyday life. Owner and Trainer Matt Fischer leads the classes, which go beyond the basics by incorporating real-world environments so your dog builds confidence wherever you go. Classes are suitable for dogs of all skill levels and serve as a great pathway to AKC Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) certification.
In-Home Dog Training Lessons
Many common dog behavior problems, such as running out the door, jumping on guests, barking, stealing food from counters, and difficulty settling down, happen at home. This makes in-home training very effective. Matt comes directly to your home to work with you and your dog in the place where you both spend the most time. By addressing issues as they arise, the results come quicker, are more practical, and last longer. In-home lessons are especially useful for homes with multiple dogs, families with young children, and dogs whose behavior is closely linked to specific locations. Maximize effectiveness by getting the whole family to participate. Available across New Hampshire and surrounding states; contact us to confirm availability in your area.
AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Training Programs
The first few months of a puppy's life are crucial. The habits, skills, and confidence developed during this time shape who your dog will become. Central New England K9 Academy's puppy training programs in New Hampshire give your new friend a solid foundation. We teach the basics, such as sit, stay, come, heel, and down. We also cover leash manners, impulse control, bite inhibition, crate training, and early socialization with people, other animals, and new environments. Our approach is warm, positive, and practical. We focus on skills that are useful in everyday life. The earlier you start, the easier it gets for both you and your puppy.
Personal Protection Training
A well-trained personal protection dog provides unmatched security. The key is thorough training. At Central New England K9 Academy, we start personal protection training with strong obedience and handler control. A protection dog that isn't reliable under pressure can be a risk. Matt Fischer has extensive experience training dogs for personal protection roles in New Hampshire and beyond. His method produces dogs that are confident and capable when needed, while staying calm, social, and manageable at other times. Training programs are customized based on your dog's natural drive and temperament, as well as your specific security needs. Contact us for a consultation to see if your dog is a good fit.
Reactive & Aggression Dog Training
Managing a dog that lunges, snaps, or reacts aggressively is one of the most stressful and isolating experiences for a dog owner. At Central New England K9 Academy, we thoroughly understand dog aggression and reactivity. Trainer Matt Fischer has spent decades as a dog behaviorist, helping owners in New England understand their dog's reactions and how to handle them. Aggression is rarely random; it usually comes from fear, frustration, poor communication, or a past that the dog can’t shake off. By identifying the root causes and addressing them, we help dogs become calmer, more predictable, and safer. This happens not through suppression but through genuine behavioral change. We work with dogs that react to other dogs or people, dogs with bite histories, and those that seem unmanageable. No judgment, just results.
Adopted & Rescue Dog Training
Bringing home a rescue or adopted dog is rewarding, but it can also present unexpected challenges. Dogs from shelters, rescues, or rehoming situations often come with unknown histories, unresolved fears, and behaviors that make sense only when you understand their background. Central New England K9 Academy's training program for rescue and adopted dogs is designed to help with this transition. We work with your new dog to build trust, establish a routine, and learn the boundaries and expectations of their forever home. We also provide you with the knowledge and confidence to support them. Whether it’s dealing with anxiety, fearfulness, leash reactivity, or getting along with other pets, we help dogs from all backgrounds find their place in their forever homes. Every dog deserves a second chance and a good start.
Dog Socialization Training
A well-socialized dog is a confident dog. This makes them easier to live with, take places, and enjoy. Socialization involves more than just meeting other dogs. It helps a dog handle the world around them, including new people, unfamiliar environments, unexpected sounds, and busy public spaces. At Central New England K9 Academy, our socialization training is structured and intentional. We expose your dog to a variety of experiences in a controlled, positive way that fosters true confidence instead of just tolerance. Socialization training is especially important for puppies who are building their behavioral foundation, rescue dogs that missed early socialization, anxious or reactive dogs, and dogs getting ready for AKC Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) certification. A dog that is calm, adaptable, and well-mannered in any setting is one you can take anywhere. This changes everything.
Board & Train
For dog owners looking for quick results or for dogs needing intensive behavior work, Board & Train is our most effective training option. Your dog stays at Central New England K9 Academy's Grafton, NH facility for an extended period. They receive focused, consistent daily training from Matt Fischer in a structured and supportive setting. Without the distractions of home life, dogs in Board & Train programs make significant progress quickly. Board & Train covers everything from basic obedience and leash manners to serious behavioral issues, aggression rehabilitation, and personal protection development. Each program is tailored to your dog's temperament, history, and your specific goals. When your dog comes home, we will work directly with you to transfer their new skills. This ensures the training continues smoothly under your care in your home.
